Dr Peter Geoffrey Lucas is a Brisbane-based consulting neurosurgeon providing specialist assessment and non-operative management advice for conditions affecting the spine, brain and peripheral nerves. He consults through Synosia at Herston Health and provides in-person and telehealth consultations where clinically appropriate.
Dr. Lucas earned his medical degree from the University of Queensland in 1998 and completed his surgical training at The Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, where his passion for neurosurgery first took root. Following his residency, he pursued advanced training across Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom, ultimately receiving the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in Neurosurgery in 2007.
As a Neurosurgical Fellow at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, England, Dr. Lucas refined his expertise before returning to Brisbane to assume a consultant role at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital. In 2009, he established a private practice at Brisbane Private Hospital, where he practised as a senior neurosurgeon until 2019. His reputation for clinical excellence has earned him the trust of his patients and the respect of his peers.
Outside his professional work, Dr Lucas enjoys travel, playing chess, spending time with his family, and completing his MBA (Master of Business Administration) studies.
