Do I need a GP referral?

Yes. All patients need a referral from their GP to arrange an appointment with Dr Lucas.

A referral also helps ensure the practice has the right background information before your consultation.

How much are your consultation fees?

Please refer to our latest fee schedule within our Patient Information PDF, which you can download HERE.

DVA and Workcover patients are bulk billed. We also offer concessions for eligible Healthcare card and Pension card holders.

Can I claim a Medicare rebate?

Yes, with a valid GP referral and Medicare card you will be eligible for a Medicare rebate for your consultation. The exact rebate amount is shown in the Patient Information PDF, which you can download HERE.

Do you see DVA and Workcover patients?

Yes. Dr Lucas sees DVA and Workcover patients.

DVA patients should provide their Gold or White Card details when booking. For White Card holders, the practice may also require written confirmation of accepted condition or conditions.

Workcover patients should advise the team when booking so the correct claim details and approval requirements can be confirmed prior to your appointment.

Do you offer telehealth appointments?

Telehealth is available where appropriate. Please ask our practice team if you require a telehealth appointment and we will advise whether the nature of your consultation allows for a telehealth option.

What should I bring to my appointment?

Patients should bring or send any relevant scans, imaging reports, specialist letters, medication information and other useful clinical documents. It is also helpful to bring Medicare or DVA card details and information about other clinicians involved in care, such as physiotherapists or pain specialists.

Do you have disabled access and onsite parking?

Yes. We offer parking immediately in front of the practice. Our parking bays are marked 'Herston Health.'

We also have lift access to our practice, which is on the first floor.

What happens at the appointment?

Dr Lucas will discuss symptoms and medical history, review imaging and relevant reports, explain the findings in plain language, discuss treatment options and next steps, and provide a written summary and plan to the patient and relevant treating clinicians.

Will Dr Lucas communicate with my other treating clinicians?

Yes. Dr Lucas takes a holistic approach and can provide reports to the GP and, where appropriate, to physiotherapists, pain specialists and other clinicians involved in the patient’s care. This supports a coordinated treatment pathway.

Do you offer second opinions?

Yes. Dr Lucas sees patients for second opinions where further specialist review or clarification may be helpful.

How long will my appointment take?

Appointment length can vary depending on the reason for review and the complexity of the case. The practice team can advise at the time of booking, but on average, an initial consultation is 45 minutes, with subsequent consultations are on average 30 mins.

Can Dr Lucas request further imaging?

Yes. Where appropriate, Dr Lucas may recommend or request further imaging or other investigations as part of your assessment and ongoing care plan.

What if I have seen another specialist already?

You are still welcome to attend. Many patients see Dr Lucas for a second opinion or for further assessment after seeing another specialist.

How do I change or cancel my appointment?

If you need to change or cancel your appointment, please contact the practice team via phone or email as soon as possible so they can assist you.

Will my information be kept private and confidential?

Yes. Your information is handled in accordance with the practice’s privacy obligations and is shared only as needed to support your care and with appropriate consent or lawful authority.
